Prime Video has revealed the official Lucy and Desi trailer for Golden Globe winner Amy Poehler’s upcoming documentary film, centering around the real-life love story of iconic TV couple Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. It had its world premiere earlier this year at the 2022 Sundance film festival and will be available for streaming on March 4.
The video, which you can check out below, features a preview of real voice tapes from the TV legends as well as commentaries from Norman Lear, Carol Burnett, Bette Midler, and more. It highlights the couple’s personal and business relationship including I Love Lucy‘s important legacy, the cost of their success, and the creation of their Desilu Productions.

Lucy and Desi is directed by acclaimed comedian Amy Poehler, who is best known for her performances in TV shows such as Saturday Night Live and Parks and Recreation. She also previously directed Netflix’s comedy film Wine Country and Moxie.
“The documentary explores the unlikely partnership and enduring legacy of one of the most prolific power couples in entertainment history,” reads the synopsis. “Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz risked everything to be together. Their love for each other led to the most influential show in the history of television, I Love Lucy.”

The documentary comes after the release of Aaron Sorkin’s Being the Ricardos biopic, which was led by Nicole Kidman, and Javier Bardem. The film recently received three Oscar nominations including Best Actress, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor for J.K. Simmons.
