Exclusive The Translator Clip Previews the Political Action Thriller

ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive clip from the political action thriller The Translator, directed by Rana Kazkaz and Anas Khalaf and written by Kazkaz and Magali Negroni from a story by Kazkaz and Khalaf. The film is out now on VOD in the U.S. and Canada from Launch Releasing.

“In 2000, Sami was the Arabic-English translator for the Syrian Olympic team in Sydney, Australia. A slip of the tongue forced him to stay in Australia and live in exile as a political refugee,” reads the official synopsis. “In 2011, when the Syrian revolution starts and his brother is arrested, Sami risks everything to return to Syria to find him.”

The movie also stars Yumma Marwan, David Field, Sawsan Arsheed, and Miranda Tapsell.

The Translator is the first full-length feature directed by the award-winning married Syrian filmmakers. The duo’s last short, Mare Nostrum, was a Sundance selection and has received over 110 international selections and 36 awards. This is a personal film for Kazkaz and Khalaf as they were forced to flee their home in Damascus due to the Syrian conflict.
