Lionsgate has debuted the first five minutes of director Roland Emmerich’s next sci-fi disaster epic Moonfall, providing us with a new look at Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson’s characters. It is currently slated for a February 4, 2022, theatrical release.
The Moonfall clip, which you can check out below, features three astronauts as they suddenly encounter a mysterious black mass that knocks out their ship leaving one of them out of an oxygen supply.

Moonfall stars Oscar winner Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson (Midway, The Conjuring films), John Bradley (Game of Thrones), Michael Peña (Battle: Los Angeles), Charlie Plummer (All the Money in the World), Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor (On My Block), Carolina Bartczak (X-Men: Apocalypse), and Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games films).
“In the film, a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it,” reads the synopsis. “With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman believes her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.

Moonfall is directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012) from a screenplay he co-wrote with Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen. It is produced by Emmerich, and Kloser, with Dennis Wang, James Wang, J.P. Pettinato, Marco Shepherd, Ute Emmerich, Carsten Lorenz, and Stuart Ford serving as executive producers.
