King Richard Trailer Features ‘Be Alive’ Track By Beyoncé

Warner Bros. Pictures has dropped a brand new King Richard trailer for the forthcoming biographical drama film, centering around Venus and Serena Williams’ father and mentor, Richard Williams. The film is currently slated to make its debut on November 19 in theaters and on HBO Max.

The video, which you can check out below, provides us with lots of new footage highlighting’s Will Smith’s leading performance as a father’s relentless determination in proving to the world that his daughters will become the biggest tennis champions of all time. It also includes a snippet of the song “Be Alive,” performed by Grammy-winning superstar Beyoncé.

King Richard is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (Monsters and Men) from a script written by Zach Baylin. The sports drama stars Will Smith (Ali), Demi Singleton (Godfather of Harlem) as Serena Williams, Saniyya Sidney (The First Lady) as Venus Williams, Emmy nominee Aunjanue Ellis (Lovecraft Country) as Brandy Williams, Richard’s wife and mother to Serena and Venus, Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) as Rick Macci, Tony Goldwyn (Scandal) as Paul Cohen, and Emmy nominee Dylan McDermott (Hollywood).

“Based on the true story that will inspire the world, the film follows the journey of Richard Williams, an undeterred father instrumental in raising two of the most extraordinarily gifted athletes of all time, who will end up changing the sport of tennis forever,” reads the synopsis. “Driven by a clear vision of their future and using unconventional methods, Richard has a plan that will take Venus and Serena Williams from the streets of Compton, California to the global stage as legendary icons. The profoundly moving film shows the power of family, perseverance and unwavering belief as a means to achieve the impossible and impact the world.”

King Richard is produced by Tim White and Trevor Write via their Star Thrower Entertainment banner along with Smith through his Overbrook Entertainment banner. Allan Mandelbaum, Adam Merims, Lynn Harris, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Caleeb Pinkett will serve as executive producers along with Venus and Serena Williams alongside their sister Isha Price. James Lassiter also produces.
