Dave Chappelle’s sixth Netflix stand-up special is set to release in just under a week, and ahead of that, the streaming platform has released a new teaser for the upcoming special.

The new special, titled The Closer, is billed as “the sixth chapter” in Chappelle’s long-running history with Netflix and will premiere on October 5, 2021. Like the previous stand-up specials, The Closer will be directed by Stan Lathan, who has worked with Chappelle ever since the comedian made his way to Netflix.
Much like the title suggests, The Closer seems to hint at Chappelle’s stand-up specials coming to an end after this latest one, although it’s unknown if his relationship with Netflix will continue beyond this. Chappelle has praised Netflix in the past, especially when it came to helping him gain the licenses for his comedy series Chappelle’s Show back earlier this year.

Chappelle’s return to the world of stand-up comedy has come with its fair share of controversy, but the superstar comedian has been an extremely successful move for Netflix. His previous stand-up specials — The Age Of Spin, Deep In The Heart Of Texas, Equanimity & The Bird Revelation, and Sticks & Stones — have all been highly praised, with Sticks & Stones and Equanimity & The Bird Revelation earning him five Emmy Awards.
