The official trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s highly anticipated Licorice Pizza has been released, highlighting a trip back to the 1970s for the film.

After premiering earlier this week across a variety of smaller chain movie theaters in the Los Angeles area, the first official look at Anderson’s next film is here. In it, the director returns back to the 1970s for the first time since his 2014 Inherent Vice.

Licorice Pizza will follow “the story of Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up, running around and falling in love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973,” according to the description for the film. The upcoming film features a star-studded cast, including Bradley Cooper, Benny Safdie, Alana Haim, Cooper Hoffman — the son of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman — Ben Stiller, John C. Reilly, and more.

The upcoming film marks the next entry in the catalog of Anderson, whose last movie was 2017’s Phantom Thread. That film earned Anderson his second Best Director Oscar nomination, although he has yet to win the award.
