IFC Films has released the official Demonic trailer for Oscar-nominated filmmaker Neill Blomkamp’s (District 9, Elysium, Chappie) upcoming sci-fi horror-thriller feature. IFC Midnight will release the movie in theaters, on Digital Rental, and VOD on August 20, 2021.

Written and directed by Blomkamp, Demonic follows a young woman who unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades-old rift between month and daughter are revealed.

The supernatural horror feature stars Carly Pope (Popular, Elysium), Chris William Martin (Supergirl, The Vampire Diaries), and Michael Rogers (Siren).
In a statement, it was revealed the film uses a patent-pending new method of using volumetric capture (a three-dimensional video technology that turns actors into geometric objects). The amount of volumetric capture in Blomkamp’s Demonic is apparently the most ever seen in a feature film.

Demonic is produced by Neill and Mike Blomkamp via their STABILITi Studios, AGC’s Ford and Linda McDonough with AGC’s Miguel Palos Jr., Alastair Burlingham, Charlie Dombek, Viktor Muller, and Steven St. Arnaud executive producing.
