Netflix has released the official trailer for their upcoming action thriller titled Beckett, starring Golden Globe nominee John David Washington and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander. The film will be available for streaming on Friday, August 13.
The video, which you can check out below along with the poster, features Washington and Vikander as a couple on a vacation in Greece. However, things quickly escalate when they get into a car accident, with Washington’s titular character waking up in a disheveled state in a hospital without his girlfriend. Soon after, Beckett will suddenly find himself involved in a dangerous political conspiracy.

In Beckett, an American tourist goes on the run in Greece after a tragic accident plunges him into a political conspiracy that makes him a target for assassination. The film is directed by Ferdinando Cito Filomarino from a screenplay written by Kevin A. Rice. This also marks the Italian filmmaker’s English-language directorial debut.
The film stars John David Washington (Tenet), Alicia Vikander (Tomb Raider), Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread), and Boyd Holbrook (The Predator, The Fugitive).

Beckett is produced by acclaimed director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name), who is currently in production for his first U.S. set movie titled Bones & All. Producers are Marco Morabito, Francesco Melzi and Gabriele Moratti. The film is scheduled to have its world premiere at the 2021 Locarno Film Festival on August 4.
