Lionsgate has released the official Die in a Gunfight trailer for their upcoming rom-com action crime pic, starring Alexandra Daddario and Diego Boneta. The video, which you can check out below, highlights the romance between Daddario’s Mary and Boneta’s Ben, who both came from rival crime families. Described as a modern take on William Shakespeare’s classic Romeo and Juliet story, the film is scheduled to arrive in select theaters and on VOD on Friday, July 16.

In Die in a Gunfight, Mary and Ben are the star-crossed black sheep of two powerful families engaged in a centuries-long feud – and they’re about to reignite an affair after many years apart. Their forbidden love will trigger the dominoes that will draw in Mukul, Ben’s best friend, who owes him a life debt; Terrence, Mary’s would-be protector-turned-stalker; Wayne, an Aussie hitman with an open mind and a code of ethics; and his free-spirited girlfriend, Barbie. As fists and bullets fly, it becomes clear that violent delights will have violent ends.
A visually stunning movie with an exciting mix of action, humor, and heart, the film will be led by Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson films), Diego Boneta (Rock of Ages), Wade Allain-Marcus (Snowfall), Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage), and Billy Crudup (The Morning Show).

Die in a Gunfight is directed by Collin Schiffli from a screenplay written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari.
