“As we know, Cruella de Vil is pretty villainous,” Stone says in the featurette. “In this film, we get to see how she became the villain we know today. The story is wholly original and in a different time period being in the late 70s. One of the most things to explore is her creativity. She’s very good at what she does, designing. The character is so much fun and so kind of intoxicating. Once you put this wild black-and-white hair, this incredible make-up, and these completely unique costumes on, you feel like Cruella de Vil. The villains are always kind of fun ones.”

Based on the character created by Dodie Smith in her 1956 book The Hundred and One Dalmatians, Disney’s Cruella will explore the rebellious early days of one of cinema’s most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. Set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, the film follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets.
