In the first full-length trailer for the legal drama Just Mercy, an Ivy League lawyer, played by Michael B. Jordan, goes to Alabama and defends inmates currently sitting on death row. You can check out the trailer in the player below!
Just Mercy is based on Bryan Stevenson’s best-selling memoir of the same name. The story follows world-renowned civil rights defense attorney Stevenson (Jordan) as he recounts his experiences and details the case of a condemned death row prisoner whom he fought to free. The true story is one of redemption, passion, and mercy set against a backdrop of a corrupt judicial system which favors the death penalty and targets the poor.

Along with Jordan, the film stars Jamie Foxx, Brie Larson, and Tim Blake Nelson, and is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), who previously worked with Larson on the films Short Term 12 and The Glass Castle. It’s co-written by Andrew Lanham (Glass Castle) and Cretton. Gil Netter, Asher Goldstein, and Jordan serve as the film’s producers.
Just Mercy is set to open in theaters on January 10, 2020.
