A24 has revealed a new promo for their upcoming horror film, Midsommar, offering us a glimpse of the horrific festivities we can expect from director Ari Aster’s new movie. Check it out the video in the player below!
Midsommar follows a couple, played by Jack Reynor (Strange Angel) and Florence Pugh (Outlaw King), who are traveling through Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown for its fabled mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.

Though Aster’s prior film, Hereditary, was shut out of the Oscars earlier this year, it managed to clean up at the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards. Star Toni Colette won Best Actress for her role, with Alex Wolff winning Best Supporting Actor. Aster himself won Best Director for the horror feature, who also took home the award for Best Screenplay. The film also won for Best Kill and Best Wide-Release Movie.
You can see what Aster has planned next when Midsommar opens in theaters on July 3.
