‘Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction’ Movie Review (2006)

Have you seen and heard about all the nudity in Basic Instinct 2? It is all the rave! There was even a racy little promo reel that “leaked” online. Oh yeah, and guess what! If you watch that promo reel that is going to be more nudity than you are going to get during the entire duration of this film, and let’s face it, that is the real reason any of you are interested in seeing this movie.

I will say one thing for this film though; it didn’t suck nearly as much as I expected it to and this is for one reason and one reason alone… Sharon Stone can pull off this character. Yeah, it’s over the top. Yeah, no one really acts that way. But guess what, this isn’t just anyone, this is Catherine Tramell and she seduced you in ’92 and if you aren’t careful this makeup layered beauty will do the same in ’06.

You see, Catherine has moved on since messing with Det. Nick Curran’s head in the original feature. She has moved to London, but she is still up to her crazy antics… or is she? Dum – dum, dum, dumb. This is the kicker, as it was before, the audience must wade through the endless amounts of smut to determine just who is the real killer, and even then who the hell knows?

As for acting, Stone is really the only one under the microscope here. David Morrissey and David Thewlis are fine and as for Charlotte Rampling, well I am just happy she steered clear of her tendency to get naked for the camera as she did with Swimming Pool. Nah, the nudity is strictly nip slips and mounds of man ass for those of you keeping count. Basic Instinct 2 is a prime example of studios already prepping the Unrated edition of the DVD for sales, and you people are going to eat it up like candy. Orgy scenes, more Stone flesh and probably even more man ass to keep the ladies happy (yeah right).

Basic Instinct 2 is in no way a good movie, but for those that do check it out it isn’t altogether horrible… but it’s close.
