‘Resident Evil: Apocalypse’ Movie Review (2004)

If you are a fan of the first Resident Evil you can be assured you will enjoy the second one as it is just as far-fetched and likeable as the first one was, plus Sienna Gullory has been added to the fray, and that is not a bad thing at all.

When last we left Alice she was stuck in the middle of a war zone as Raccoon City had been turned upside down by zombies and turmoil. What is a girl to do? Well, get a couple guns, a motorcycle, a sexy little top and steer clear of those big ass monsters that are out there.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse is just as fun as the first movie despite its obvious bites off of Dawn of the Dead, which are so easily recognizable it isn’t even funny, plus the fact that there is far too much slow motion employed here for dramatic effect that it is just bad movie making.

But then again, this is Resident Evil, not Gone With the Wind, things like that are forgivable as long as you keep the action level high and the pace quick, and it is there where Apocalypse succeeds.

Weaving you in and out of the city from battling zombies, Lickers to the Nemesis the action just does not quit, and with the sexy Gullory to occupy some good screen time it is sure to be the success Columbia is hoping it will be, giving us a Resident Evil 3, which can’t be too far off in the future.
