Gentleman be forewarned this is the ultimate “chick flick” and with that said be ready to take your “chick” to see it.
There are the movies that are made primarily for the female audience but the ladies infatuation with Tad Hamilton in this movie goes beyond making it more of a ladies movie than the norm.
Women will be blessed by the opportunity to watch Tad Hamilton (Duhamel) stripping away his shirt and men will be lucky enough to get to see another full feature with the beautiful Kate Bosworth, but the appeal of this one falls to the ladies side.
The title for this movie gives most of the story away but let me give you a brief synopsis. Tad Hamilton is an actor looking to regain that “good boy” status in the public eye. To do this he puts up the opportunity to win a date with the big star and the lucky winner is Rosalee Futch (Bosworth).
Rosalee is a small-town girl and works at a local Piggly Wiggly with her two friends Cathy (Goodwin) and Pete (Grace) and the date with the star is a dream come true, but Pete is also in love with young Rosalee and there lies in your story.
There isn’t a lot I can say other than this movie succeeds in its appeal to the female audience and men will see it with those ladies.
There is one comparison I can draw though, and that is to this year’s earlier Mandy Moore flick, Chasing Liberty. With Chasing Liberty the theater draw was Mandy Moore, but at least with this one it has more than just a name to draw in audiences.
The story isn’t bad and I even had a few chuckles, but it just wasn’t my kind of movie, which doesn’t mean it won’t be yours.
Now I know my “C” grade above will be contested by the ladies that love it, but I had to be honest.
