The only truly funny thing about Scary Movie 3 is how it can take a spoof on such films as The Ring, Signs, Matrix Reloaded, 8 Mile, The Others and more and turn those great movies into an hour and a half of crap.
It surprises me how a series of movies started by the mindless drivel that was Scary Movie can continue to a point where there is a third one and rumors of a fourth.
The storyline is almost obvious based on the movies listed above, but let me give you a snippet of what you are about to NOT enjoy.
It all begins when roving reporter Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris) sets out to find a hard news story in the middle of television sweeps. She soon uncovers an outrageous onslaught of globe-threatening developments including alien invaders, killer videotapes, freaky crop circles, prophecies of The One, eerie-eyed children, ambitious white rappers and even a run-in with Michael Jackson. From that point forward you can guess the rest.
I also find it a joke that the promotion of this movie displays its cast of characters as some of the most famous stars from all around, when in fact many of them have failed on the big screen only to find time on short lived TV series.
Before I end my rant let me say that if you are unfortunate enough to have to sit through this film the beginning is actually quite funny as Jenny McCarthy and Pamela Anderson recreate the opening scene of The Ring. McCarthy takes shots at the controversial Pamela and Tommy video tape and it plays off the dumb blonde stereotype perfectly. It is unfortunate that the rest of the movie couldn’t be as inventive.
Please stop supporting these mindless films that should be made for TV and left out of the theaters.
