Alfred Hitchcock: The Iconic Film Collection 4K Review: 6 Masterpieces

Alfred Hitchcock is often regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers to ever step behind the camera, and his title of “Master of Suspense” is one that lives on to this day. The director made over 60 films during his lifetime, several of which are considered masterworks.

The director’s film collection has been bundled together plenty of times, but recently, a new collection was released, bundling together six of Hitchcock’s most legendary films for the first time in 4K Ultra HD and packaged in an incredibly stylistic and sleek book, and they’ve never looked better as a result.

The Alfred Hitchcock: The Iconic Film Collection – Limited Edition 4K Collection packages together six of Hitchcock’s most well-known films, including Rear Window (1954), To Catch a Thief (1955), Vertigo (1958), North by Northwest (1959), Psycho (1960), and The Birds (1963).

The movies here might be the main attraction, but the way they’re collected also serves as an incredible treat for collectors and those looking to display some of their movie collection. The book is fairly similar to some of the bigger collections that companies like Criterion have done for things like the Godzilla collection and is a great treat for fans of physical media.

The collection features various pages dedicated to each film, each of which contains large artwork for the film, as well as different screenshots and information about each entry. The six 4K discs are all housed in the back of the book, inside disc clips similar to that found in traditional DVD or Blu-ray boxes. The discs themselves feature very simple covers and leave a little to be desired, but they do match the tone and time of their release.

As far as the films go, the Alfred Hitchcock: The Iconic Film Collection – Limited Edition 4K Collection does a good job of presenting Hitchcock’s classics in perhaps the best way you can watch it. Each film features some stunning colors without sacrificing the lack of depth or colors in things like the actor’s skin or any other background shot. Scenes look crisp and not too muddied, and there isn’t a large amount of grain, something that some past releases from Paramount Pictures fans have been critical of.

Alfred Hitchcock: The Iconic Film Collection – Limited Edition 4K Review: The Final Verdict

The Alfred Hitchcock: The Iconic Film Collection – Limited Edition 4K Collection may not serve as the definitive collection for fans of the classic film series. Not every movie is collected, and for those who do want to own one, the collection itself is limited to just 5,500 copies, making it a more collector-first product compared to something like a full release.

However, for those who do love collecting physical media and displaying it, this might be as close to a must-have collection as there is. Not only does it contain arguably the most recognizable and famous films in Hitchcock’s career, but it also looks great and stands out on any shelf or collection that a movie lover may have.
