Last night, Twentieth Century Fox Film celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Die Hard franchise with the unveiling of a massive mural on the Century City lot. As you can see in the video below, John McClane himself, Bruce Willis, was on hand and tasked with managing the detonator that led to the painting’s explosive reveal.
Introduced by Fox Film chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos, Willis looked back on playing a character whose appearances have spanned decades and who returns to the big screen this month for a fifth adventure, A Good Day to Die Hard.
“One of the most exciting things about playing McClane is that hes definitely not a superhero,” says Willis. “He has no special powers or abilities. He’s a regular guy to whom anybody can relate. While we’re always pushing the envelope to create great action sequences, I think it is McClane’s relatability and sense of humor that really draws in people.”
