Jeffrey Dean Morgan and David Strathairn Join Walkaway Joe

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that The Walking Dead‘s Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Billions‘ David Strathairn and Preacher‘s Julie Ann Emery are set to star in the upcoming indie drama Walkaway Joe.

Written by Michael Milillo in his feature debut and directed by Tom Wright (Barbershop) in his directorial debut, Walkaway Joe follows a young boy named Dallas who goes on the search for his pool-hustling father that abandoned his family, meeting drifter Joe Haley along the way, who takes Dallas under his wing as he aids in the search.

The film will be produced by Milillo and has already begun production in Louisiana.

Morgan can currently be seen on the ninth season of the AMC hit series The Walking Dead, and was most recently seen on the big screen in the sci-fi action film Rampage alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, which grossed over $400 million at the box office and sits as the highest-reviewed film based on an arcade game.

Strathairn, who is most-known for his Oscar-nominated performance in the 2005 drama Good Night, and Good Luck, has most recently been a recurring character on the Showtime drama Billions, the AMC miniseries McMafia and the SyFy actioner The Expanse, and will be seen in the upcoming HBO biopic film My Dinner with Hervé alongside Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades Freed) and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones).

Emery has appeared in numerous television roles over the years, including the premiere season of the celebrated FX adaptation of Fargo, the hit AMC spin-off Better Call Saul and the TNT spin-off Major Crimes, with her most recent role being a recurring appearance as Lara Featherstone on the AMC adaptation of the Vertigo Comic, Preacher.
