Chloe Moretz is eyeing a leading role in Summit Entertainment’s If I Stay. Variety has the news and also says that documentary filmmaker R.J. Cutler is in talks to make his narrative debut.
The film first announced in 2009, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke was, at one point, planning to helm the adaptation of Gayle Forman’s novel.
If I Stay is the story of the gifted classical musician Mia and her boyfriend, Adam, an up and coming indie-rock star. Torn between two paths in life, her art or her relationship, Mia is forced to make an even starker choice between life and death when she is caught in a fatal car accident with her family one snowy morning in Oregon.
Moretz has quite a varied slate of films hitting theaters this year. She can next be seen in the sketch comedy anthology Movie 43. After that, she’ll reprise her role as Hit Girl in Kick-Ass 2 and will play the title role in Kimberly Peirce’s Carrie.
