In the new clip from the upcoming heist movie Widows, a quartet of women sit around two piles of money separated into plastic containers. Veronica (Oscar winner Viola Davis), runs through the weight and denominations found in each. When Linda (Michelle Rodriguez) makes a remark about she feels like she’s “still in school,” Veronica lays down the law, explaining how the odds are stacked against them. Widows is the story of four women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands’ criminal activities. Set in contemporary Chicago, amid a time of turmoil, tensions build when Veronica, Alice (Elizabeth Debicki), Linda (Michelle Rodriguez) and Belle (Cynthia Erivo) take their fate into their own hands and conspire to forge a future on their own terms.
Co-written by Flynn and McQueen, and based on the British crime drama by Lynda La Plante, Widows arrives in theaters on November 16.
