Variety is reporting that writer Ryan Engle has been hired to pen the adaptation of the 2005 comic book The New West.
The comic was originally written by Jimmy Palmiotti and illustrated by Phil Noto. It is described as follows:
Our story begins with a disgraced former Los Angeles Police detective Daniel Wise, who endures a near future deserted hostile LA environment where the Mayor has now been kidnapped and Daniel Wise is the only one who can save him, but can he do it with just a horse and sword?
The film is set to be produced by Benderspink, Len Wiseman and Gareb Shamus. No casting or release date have been announced, but check back here for more details as they emerge.
