Deadline reports that Sebastian Stan (The Martian, Marvel Cinematic Universe) and Denise Gough (Colette) have officially signed on to star as the leads in the romantic drama film Monday.
Monday is described as a classy-looking film that will focus on Chloe and Mickey, two self-destructive Americans, living across Athens and the Greek islands who will be involved in an intense romance. The film will be directed by Greek director Argyris Papadimitropoulos (Suntan). The script is co-written by screenwriter-playwright Rob Hayes (This Will End Badly) and Papadimitropoulos.
“Many people don’t feel like getting involved in intense relationships anymore. And that to me is so sad. Chloe and Mickey’s story is a very honest look at one relationship, and in it there are elements everyone will recognize from their own experiences. I simply cannot wait to put the amazingly talented Denise and Sebastian in front of the lens and shoot them in stunning settings, places I know like the back of my hand, and work with a team of producers who have made some of my favorite films.” Papadimitropoulos said during his interview with Deadline.
Monday is produced by Christos V. Konstantakopoulos (Before Midnight), Damian Jones (Iron Lady), and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Loving). La La Land‘s producer Fred Berger will be the film’s executive producer. Protagonist Pictures will handle the film’s international sales while Faliro House and its partners will be the ones financing the feature.
Sebastian Stan is best known for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier. He will next be seen in Karyn Kusama‘s Destroyer starring alongside Nicole Kidman and Tatiana Maslany. Denise Gough is a award-winning stage actress known for her roles in stage plays like People Places And Things and Angel In America.
Monday will begin with its production this summer in Greece.
