The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Oscar winner Mel Gibson (Braveheart, Hacksaw Ridge) and Golden Globe winner Colin Farrell (The Lobster, In Bruges) have joined Millennium Films’ WWII action revenge thriller War Pigs, directed by Tommy Wirkola (What Happened to Monday, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters).
Farrell is set to portray Drex in the feature with Gibson playing The Pastor. War Pigs follows ex-soldiers out for revenge against a gang that killed one of their own and stole their drug money. The film is written by Nick Ball (Cat Run) and John Niven (Kill Your Friends), with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian of di Bonaventura Productions producing along with Matt Berenson.
Farrell’s recent movie and television credits include Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Beguiled, True Detective, and Legend of Cambria. He will next be seen in the crime drama thriller Widows, starring Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez, Jon Bernthal, and Liam Neeson. The movie is set to premiere in theaters on November 16, 2018. Farrell will also star as Holt Farrier in Tim Burton’s reimagining of the classic Disney story Dumbo, due out in March 2019.
Gibson is set to direct the WWII naval war movie Destroyer and will be starring in a number of upcoming features including The Professor and the Madman, Dragged Across Concrete, and Boss Level. His other recent film credits include Daddy’s Home 2, The Expendables 3, The Beaver, and Get the Gringo.
