Disney•Pixar‘s long awaited Incredibles 2 has been smashing box office records since it debuted back in June, and the highly anticipated sequel has set another milestone, joining the $1 billion club! The sequel officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office yesterday, making it Disney’s 5th animated and 18th ever billion-dollar release. The film joins Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War as Disney’s 3rd release to reach the $1 billion milestone this year.

Incredibles 2 has earned $574 million domestically and $430.9 million internationally for a global total of $1.005 billion through July 30. The film is also the first animated film ever to surpass the $500 million mark in North America and now stands as the 9th biggest overall release in U.S. history. With Toy Story 3, Finding Dory, and Incredibles 2, Pixar is the first and only animated studio to have released three billion-dollar films.
The film isn’t even done rolling out across the world either as it’s set to open in Japan and Span this week and debut in Italy and Germany in September.
In Incredibles 2, Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.

Written and directed by Brad Bird (Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille) and produced by John Walker (The Incredibles, Tomorrowland) and Nicole Grindle (Sanjay’s Super Team short, Toy Story 3 associate producer), Disney•Pixar’s Incredibles 2 busts into theaters on June 15, 2018.
