Ryan Reynolds is in talks to join the cast of Marjane Satrapi’s (Persepolis) psychological thriller, The Voices, Deadline reports.
Produced by Mandalay Vision and Vertigo Entertainment, the film features an original script by Michael R. Perry (Paranormal Activity) and centers on Jerry Hickfang, a lovable but strange bathtub factory worker who yearns for the attention of a woman in accounting. When their relationship takes a sudden murderous turn, Jerry’s evil “talking” cat and benevolent “talking” dog lead him down a fantastical path that ultimately brings him to salvation.
Reynolds, who would play Hickfang, starred earlier this year in Universal Pictures’ Safe House and made a brief cameo in the studio’s Ted. He’ll next provide a voice in DreamWorks Animation’s The Croods.
The Voices is eyeing an early 2013 production.
