Will Ferrell is set to star in the upcoming musical comedy Eurovision, Deadline has confirmed. Ferrell will write the feature alongside Andrew Steele.
Eurovision revolves around the wildly popular and long-running international TV music competition The Eurovision Song Contest, which is a contest that began in Switzerland in 1956 with seven participating West European nations. This year 43 countries competed for the prize with Lisbon by Netta winning after performing the song “Toy.” ABBA and Céline Dion are among the former contestants who launched successful worldwide careers are their wins at The Eurovision Song Contest.
Ferrell will produce alongside Jessica Elbaum for Gary Sanchez Productions with Adam McKay set as executive producer.
The comedian’s previous credits that feature him singing include Step Brothers, Elf, and during his run on Saturday Night Live. His latest Gary Sanchez Production, the raunchy comedy Ibiza, opened on Netflix last month.
