HBO’s Entourage aired its final episode exactly one year ago yesterday with the suggestion that the storyline might continue on the big screen. In an interview with producer Mark Wahlberg earlier this year, ComingSoon.net learned that plans for a big screen outting were contingent on screenwriter Doug Ellin.
“[W]e’re just waiting on Doug to finish writing,” Wahlberg said. “I’m working with him on what the story is but I’d like to see the guys just get back to being the guys again.”
Today, Deadline reports that the wait may be over. Ellin has told them that he’ll having completed the screenplay by this weekend and that the action picks up six months after the end of the series, which saw Jeremy Piven’s Ari Gold taking a job with a major studio.
There are interesting developments about Ari as a studio head,” Ellin says, “and thats still the first page for me. But foremost is the friendship between the guys who are still hanging out and going to fun parties, and it continues with the same characters.
There’s no firm date as of yet on when a feature version of Entourage might head into production, but check back for details as they become available.
