Nicolas Cage is set to headline the upcoming action-thriller I Am Wrath, Deadline reports. The project is in development at Emmett/Furla Films and the site notes that William Friedkin is potentially interested in directing with a script from Paul Sloan, based on an idea by Yvan Gauthier.
Cage will play Stanley, a man who takes matters into his own hands when he discovers a plot of police corruption after his wife is murdered.
Friedkin is best known for big screen classics like The Exorcist and The French Connection. He most recently directed Killer Joe. Cage, meanwhile, recently starred in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and will headline this Friday’s release of Stolen.
Production on I Am Wrath is slated to begin in February 2013.
