Actress Amy Ryan (Birdman, Gone Baby Gone) has joined the already strong female cast of 30WEST and FilmNation Entertainment‘s comedy film Late Night, which will also feature Emma Thompson (Beauty and the Beast) and Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project).
Scripted by and co-starring Kaling, the film centers on a late-night talk show host (Thompson) who is at risk of losing her long-running show right when she hires her first female writer (Kaling) who revitalizes her show and her life.
Late Night features an ensemble cast, including John Lithgow (Daddy’s Home 2), Hugh Dancy (Hannibal), Reid Scott (Veep), Denis O’Hare (American Horror Story) and Megalyn Echikunwoke (Arrow). Production is currently underway in New York.
Kaling is also producing with Howard Klein, alongside Imperative Entertainment and FilmNation Entertainment. Nisha Ganatra (The Mindy Project, Chutney Popcorn) is directing.
Kaling can be seen in the upcoming heist-comedy Ocean’s 8 in June, Thompson in the upcoming spy comedy Johnny English Strikes Again in September, and Ryan in two films this year including Beautiful Boy in October and Strange But True sometime later this year.
