Deadline has confirmed that Annabelle Wallis (The Mummy) is joining Mel Gibson (Daddy’s Home 2) and Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) in the action-thriller Boss Level in a lead role. The announcement comes just after the recent news that Naomi Watts (Mulholland Drive, King Kong) was in talks to star in the film as well.
Boss Level follows a retired special forces officer, Roy Pulver (Grillo), who is trapped in a never-ending time loop on the day of his death. Wallis will play Alice, a dental hygienist who hates teeth but has a huge crush on her patient, aka Roy. Since Roy has to repeat this particular day numerous times until he can figure out who is responsible and put an end to the loop, Alice is frequently part of the repeating narrative, sometimes in bed alongside Roy as the first assassin of the day that tries to murder him, as well as in other encounters with him.
Boss Level will be produced and financed by Randall Emmett and George Furla of Emmett/Furla/Oasis, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian also serving as producers. Carnahan and Grillo’s War Party will executive produce alongside Scott Free’s Jules Daly. The film was written and will be directed by Joe Carnahan (Death Wish).
