Fear the Walking Dead’s Cliff Curtis has been cast in all four Avatar sequels

Fear the Walking Dead star Cliff Curtis has been cast in a lead role in all four sequels to director James Cameron‘s 2009 film Avatar, according to Deadline. Curtis will reportedly play Tonowari “the leader of the Metkayina, the reef people clan.”

20th Century Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment recently announced new release dates for all four of the films via the official Avatar Facebook page, saying, “Great to be working with the best team in the business! Avatar takes flight as we begin concurrent production on four sequels. The journey continues December 18, 2020, December 17, 2021, December 20, 2024 and December 19, 2025!” 20th Century Fox had previously announced a December 2018 release date for the first sequel along with the reveal that subsequent films in the franchise would arrive in December 2020, December 2022, and December 2023.

Confirmed to feature the return of cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver, the Avatar sequels will be produced by Cameron and Jon Landau through their Lightstorm Entertainment. The James Cameron-directed sequels are written by Cameron along with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno.

Cliff Curtis plays Travis Manawa on AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead. He’s also known for his work in films like Live Free or Die HardTraining Day, Three KingsOnce Were WarriorsThe Piano and The Fountain. He played Javier Acosta in the TV series Gang Related and Dax Miller in Missing.
