Foresight Unlimited announced today that Academy Award nominee Samuel L. Jackson (Kong: Skull Island, The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained) has joined the cast of The Last Full Measure from Emmy Award-winning writer/director Todd Robinson (White Squall, Lonely Hearts). Sebastian Stan (Captain America films) leads the lauded cast, which includes Academy Award winner Christopher Plummer (Beginners), Academy Award winner William Hurt (Kiss of the Spider Woman), Golden Globe nominee Bradley Whitford (The West Wing), Golden Globe nominee Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos), and Golden Globe nominee Linus Roache (Batman Begins, RFK).
Based on the true story of a present-day cover-up investigation, The Last Full Measure follows young Pentagon investigator Scott Huffman (Stan) as he battles the political machine in Washington. He reluctantly teams with veterans of Operation Abilene to convince Congress to award the Medal of Honor to a courageous Air Force medic, William Pitsenbarger, who is seen saving the lives of over 60 Marines ambushed in one of the bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War. As the battle waged on, and after the last helicopter left, he continued to save lives until his own was sacrificed.
Timothy Scott Bogart, Mark Damon, Lauren Selig, Julian Adams, Nicholas Cafritz, Robert Reed Peterson, and Shaun Sanghani are producing, with Tamara Birkemoe, Jenna Sanz-Agero, and Sidney Sherman executive producing. Pen Densham and John Watson are co-executive producers. Foresight Unlimited is handling international sales and producing in association with Provocator and SSS Entertainment. Principal Photography begins in Atlanta and Costa Rica later this month.
Foresight Unlimited’s Mark Damon said: “When I read Todd Robinson’s exceptionally moving script and heard the real-life interviews of the many men whom William Pitsenbarger saved, I felt this could be a great film. With the award-winning cast that has been assembled, I am now sure of it.”
