According to Variety, fan fav Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Trek franchises) will take the lead role in the action-thriller Hummingbird. Swedish directing team Markus Kryler and Fredrik Akerstrom, who helmed the cinematics for Electronic Arts’ Battlefield 1 video game, will direct Saldana in the picture.
Saldana will play a black-ops assassin forced to confront her true identity while going after her latest mark. John McClain wrote the Black List script.
Fundamental Films’ Mark Gao and Gregory Ouanhon will produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road Productions. Fundamental’s Gary Glushon and Jeremy Stein with Zoe Saldana, the latter through her production company Cinestar Pictures, which she co-founded with her sisters Cisely and Mariel.
