The cast of Freaky Deaky continues to grow as Variety reports that Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser and Craig Robinson have all signed on for the Elmore Leonard adaptation.
Written and to be directed by Charles Matthau (The Grass Harp), the story revolves around Chris Mankowski (Dillon), a Detroit police sergeant who moves from the bomb squad to sex crimes, coming up against a group of ’60s radicals who now, in 1974, are part of an investigation involving the bombing of a limousine.
Fraser is said to play Skip Gibbs, a former activist who now uses his knowledge of explosives to provide effects for Hollywood films. Robinson will play Donnell Lewis, a Black Panther in the 60’s and, in ’74, the assistant to Woody Ricks (the previously announced William H. Macy), a Hollywood power player.
It was previously announced that Camilla Belle would be playing the female lead, but Variety‘s story suggests that the role is still vacant.
Filming is said to begin this month in Michigan.
