Bousman’s Abattoir Locks Distribution

Cult filmmaker Darren Lynn Bousman’s Abattoir gets picked up by Momentum Pictures

Momentum Pictures announced today that it has acquired the North American rights to genre guru Darren Lynn Bousman’s new horror film Abattoir. The studio plans to release in theaters on VOD and Digital HD on Dec. 9, 2016.

Written by Christopher Monfette (12 Monkeys) and directed by Bousman (Saw II-IV, Mother’s Day), the film stars Jessica Lowndes (The Prince), Joe Anderson (Hercules), Lin Shaye (Insidious Series) and Dayton Callie (Sons of Anarchy). The movie is based on the Radical Publishing 6-issue comic book mini-series created by Bousman.

The film centers on a real estate reporter (Jessica Lowndes) who unearths an urban legend about a house being built from rooms where horrific tragedies have occurred. The investigation ultimately leads her and ex-lover Detective Declan Grady (Joe Anderson) to the enigmatic Jebediah Crone (Dayton Callie) and the answer to the question, “How do you build a haunted house?”

The deal was negotiated on behalf of Momentum Pictures by Sejin Croninger, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Acquisitions for Entertainment One, and by Verve Ventures and Rosen Law Group on behalf of the filmmakers.

Stay tuned for more on Abattoir in the coming weeks.
