Al Pacino Joins Gotti: Three Generations

Production company Fiore Films announced in Cannes yesterday that actor Al Pacino has joined Barry Levinson’s Gotti: Three Generations as Aniello “Neil” Dellacroce, the close associate and mentor to John Gotti Sr., played in the film by John Travolta. Of course, Pacino has lots of experience playing mobsters himself having starred in Francis Ford Coppola’s “Godfather” trilogy as Michael Corleone, played Tony Montana in Brian De Palma’s Scarface as well as playing one in the crime-comedy flop Gigli.

Levinson took over the directing chair when Nick Cassavetes left the project, and he’s already brought in James Toback, who Levinson worked with on Bugsy, to do rewrites on the script. So far, the project co-stars Travolta’s wife Kelly Preston as Gotti’s wife, their real-life daughter Ella Bleu Travolta as Gotti’s daughter Angel, as well as Joe Pesci and Lindsay Lohan.

Shooting is planned to start in the fall for a late 2012 release.
