Warner Bros. Pictures has set the Ocean’s 8 release date! Look for the all-female Ocean’s Eleven spin-off to hit theaters on June 8, 2018. Paramount Pictures previously announced that its Transformers Bumblebee spin-off would open on that date as well.
Ocean’s 8 will star Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina.
Gary Ross (Free State of Jones, Hunger Games) will direct and produce the film, which will be a continuation of the George Clooney-led films, with Bullock playing Danny Ocean’s ex-con sister. With help from her right-hand woman (Blanchett, playing the equivalent of Brad Pitt’s Rusty), she’ll form a team of thieves to steal a necklace from the Met Ball in order to frame a villainous gallery owner.
Shooting is expected to begin this month in New York. A cameo by Clooney has been nixed for the time being, although he could potentially appear in sequels.
Olivia Milch and Ross wrote the screenplay for the Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures project. Ocean’s Eleven remake trilogy filmmaker Steven Soderbergh is producing. Susan Ekins is executive producing.
