Walt Disney Pictures has picked up Chrome and Paint, to be directed and produced by Ice Cube, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is described as a “gritty car culture project” and gets its name from a song on Cube’s 2006 album “Laugh Now, Cry Later.”
Cube will produce with his CubeVision partner Matt Alvarez and is also co-writing the script with Eva Vives (Raising Victor Vargas).
The trade says the project, set in South Central LA, was envisioned as a hardcore R-rated movie, but it will be toned down now that the film is at Disney.
