Luke Evans is the latest addition to the State Like Sleep cast
The State Like Sleep cast expands today as, per Variety, Luke Evans has signed on to join Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon (Man of Steel, Revolutionary Road) and Ben Foster (Lone Survivor, Warcraft) in the mystery thriller. Rebecca Hall (Iron Man 3, The Gift) was previously said to be a part of the State Like Sleep cast, but her name is not mentioned in today’s trade report.
State Like Sleep, which begins production next week in Boston, is written and will be directed by visual artist and filmmaker Meredith Danluck (North of South, West of East). The film centers on a woman named Katherine, who struggles with the truth to unanswered questions surrounding her celebrity husband’s double life after he commits suicide.
“Meredith has written a powerful and mesmerizing script, filled with rich and complex characters and Eddie has brought together an impressive all-star cast to bring this story alive. We are elated to share this project with our buyers,” said Fortitude International’s Nadine de Barros when the project was first announced earlier this year.
Eddie Vaisman (Big Sur, In a World) and P. Jennifer Dana (It Follows, The Art of Getting By) are producing.
Luke Evans can be seen coming up in Universal Pictures‘ big screen adaptation of the Paula Hawkins bestseller The Girl on the Train. Also starring Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, Haley Bennett, Justin Theroux, Allison Janney, Edgar Ramirez, Lisa Kudrow and Laura Prepon, it hits theaters October 7. After that, Evans is slated to play the role of Gaston in Walt Disney Pictures‘ live-action take on Beauty and the Beast. There, Evans joins an ensemble that also includes Emma Watson, Kevin Kline, Sir Ian McKellen, Josh Gad, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Dan Stevens, Audra McDonald, Stanley Tucci and Ewan McGregor. Look for it to hit theaters March 17, 2017.
