Anton Yelchin has signed on for the Dean Koontz adaptation Odd Thomas, ShockTillYouDrop.com has learned.
To be directed by Stephen Sommers (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, The Mummy), the film will bring to the screen to the young man who has the power to see (but not hear) the dead. First appearing in the novel “Odd Thomas,” Koontz also featured the character in three subsequent books, “Forever Odd,” “Brother Odd” and “Odd Hours,” as well in for two graphic novels.
Yelchin is best known for sci-fi appearances in Star Trek and Terminator Salvation, but will break into horror with the upcoming remake of Fright Night.
Howard Kaplan, John Baldecchi and Sommers are producing the project, budgeted at $47 million. Sommers wrote the script and is currently in pre-production.
