Michael Nyqvist has signed on to play one of the lead villains in the fourth Mission: Impossible film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Nyqvist appeared in all three Swedish adaptations of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) as reporter Mikael Blomkvist.
The current line up for the Brad Bird film includes Tom Cruise (returning as Ethan Hunt), Ving Rhames (returning as Luther Stickell), Simon Pegg (returning as Benji Dunn) and newcomers to the franchise Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton and the just announced Vladimir Mashkov.
Mission: Impossible is in production now and planned for a release on December 16, 2011.
