James V. Hart has signed on to script Chinese Odyssey, reports Variety.
The film, announced in May, will be directed by Rob Minkoff and will shoot mostly in China. Though Minkhoff has also worked in theatrical animation (he directed Disney’s The Lion King), Chinese Odyssey is will be shot in live-action for release in 3D.
Specifics of the story are unknown, but Minkoff has previously described the film as, “involving ancient mysteries, deadly sea monsters, great characters and larger-than-life adventures…”
Hart has previous worked on the screenplays for Hook, Contact and, most recently, August Rush.
