Eden Shur, Megalyn Echikunwoke and Lyndon Smith are among the ensemble cast of the new dance comedy Step Sisters
Broad Green Pictures today announced the cast of their upcoming dance comedy ensemble Step Sisters (previously titled Ain’t No Half Steppin). The film, written by Chuck Hayward (Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life, One Big Happy), will star Megalyn Echikunwoke (90210, House of Lies), Eden Sher (The Middle), Lyndon Smith (Secret in Their Eyes, Parenthood), Gage Golightly (Red Oaks, Teen Wolf), Nia Jervier (Dear White People), Alessandra Torresani (The Big Bang Theory), Marque Richardson (Dear White People, All the Way), Naturi Naughton (Power, Notorious) and Matt McGorry (Orange Is the New Black, How to Get Away with Murder).
Step Sisters centers on an ambitious black sorority girl (Echikunwoke) who, in order to get admitted to the law school of her dreams, agrees to cross cultural lines and teach the exclusive art of black Greek stepping to a band of wild, party-obsessed white sorority girls whose charter is about to be revoked.
Charles Stone (Drumline) will direct Step Sisters, which is being produced by Matt Alvarez (Straight Outta Compton, the Ride Along franchise), Lena Waithe (Masters of None, Dear White People) and Benjamin Cory Jones (Hand of God). Broad Green Pictures’ Josh Reinhold is an executive producer.
Christopher Baffa, ASC (Glee, Next Friday) serves as director of photography on Step Sisters with Jeffrey Pratt Gordon (Wedding Crashers, National Treasure: Book of Secrets) the production designer. Victoria Thomas (The Hateful Eight, Straight Outta Compton) serves as casting director with Aakomon “AJ” Jones (Pitch Perfect franchise, How to Be Single) the choreographer. Lorraine Coppin (Greenleaf, Madea’s Witness Protection) is the film’s costume designer.
Principal photography on Step Sisters begins in Atlanta on June 1. The film is expected to hit theatres in 2017.
