
Titles arriving February 16 include Black Mass, Trumbo, Steve Jobs and more!
Welcome to ComingSoon.net’s look at all the top titles arriving this week on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. Check out the gallery viewer below for a look at the major new releases, catalogue films and television collections hitting shelves and/or VOD beginning Tuesday, February 16, 2016.
The week kicks off with a number of recent biopics. Patricia Riggen’s The 33, starring Antonio Banderas, brings to the screen the true story of the 2010 Chilean mining accident that trapped 33 men underground for 69 days. Also hitting this week is Scott Cooper’s Black Mass, starring Johnny Depp as infamous mobster Whitey Bulger. February 16 sees the release of Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs, featuring Michael Fassbender as the late Apple co-founder. Finally, Bryan Cranston plays the title role as the blacklisted screenwriter in Jay Roach’s Trumbo.
February 16 also delivers the recent crime thriller Criminal Activities, starring John Travolta, Michael Pitt and Dan Stevens.
The Criterion Collection inducts two classics this week in the form of Charlie Chaplin’s first full-length feature as a director, The Kid, and Nagisa Oshima’s 1968 heavy drama Death By Hanging.
Shout! Factory continues their impressive Blu-ray series with The Vincent Price Collection Volume III, offering HD releases of Master of the World (1961), Tower of London (1962), Diary of a Madman (1963), Cry of the Banshee (1970) and An Evening of Edgar Allan Poe (1970).
Warner Archive offers up another Alfred Hitchock classic with the first ever HD release of the master of suspense’s 1953 thriller, I Confess. There’s also seven new additions to their DVD line of studio classics with The Whip Hand (1951), Take the High Ground (1953), Angry Hills (1959), Watusi (1959), The Angel Wore Red (1960), Go Naked in the World (1961) and Rhino! (1964).
On the small screen front, February 16 brings two popular HBO series: the first season of Togetherness and the fourth season of Girls.
A few interesting television sets also come home February 16 with DVD-only complete series sets for The Andy Griffith Show, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and the 1972 animated sitcom spinoff The Brady Kids.
Arriving via Digital HD February 16 are both Ryan Coogler’s acclaimed Rocky spinoff, Creed, and Paolo Sorrentino’s recent comedy drama Youth, starring Michael Caine, Harvey Keitel and Rachel Weisz.
