David Bowie has passed away at the age of 69 from cancer
Legendary artist David Bowie has passed away at the age of 69 from cancer, his representatives confirmed. From Bowie’s official Facebook page:
January 10 2016 – David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.
David Bowie’s son, director Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code, Warcraft) shared the following on Twitter:

Bowie had just released his 25th album Blackstar on January 8, his birthday, and the below music video for “Lazarus.” You can read more about Bowie’s incredible music career that began in the early 1970s at his official website.
Bowie starred in such films as The Man Who Fell to Earth, The Hunger, Just a Gigolo, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ, David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, and Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige.
David Bowie, born David Robert Jones on January 8, 1947, is survived by his wife Iman, his son Duncan and his daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones.
