Like Jeff Bridges in TRON: Legacy, this CG younger version of Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator Genisys looks all kinds of wrong, but I guess that’s why Paramount is getting it out there as much as possible, spoiling what would have actually been a very cool scene for Terminator fans had they gotten it right. Instead, and perhaps this is just due to the online quality of the video, we get harsh lighting, dead eyes and plastic skin from the CG version of Schwarzenegger’s Terminator from the 1984 original.
As much as I hope this film isn’t a complete travesty, the way Paramount is marketing it and the fact they aren’t screening it for press here in Seattle until only a day before it begins hitting theaters gives me very little confidence. Tell me, am I reading too much into this?
Do you have reason to believe this could be better than the marketing suggests? Isn’t this a scene you would have rather seen cold in the theater? After all, it isn’t as if this scene hasn’t also been shown in trailers, so this clip isn’t any big reveal that hasn’t already found its way into the marketing.
Terminator Genisys releases in theaters on July 1.
