What I Watched, What You Watched #295

Not a terribly busy week of movie watching, but a decent one. Obviously it started off horribly with Hot Pursuit, and it seems to have become something of a habit of mine to go home and watch something I expect to be much better after seeing something so bad. No different this week as I got home and watched Cedriz Jimenez‘s The Connection, which will begin hitting theaters next weekend and is a movie you’re definitely going to want to seek out. In fact, let me put it this way, if you’re a fan of Michael Mann, this is the kind of movie you remember Michael Mann making, unlike the kind of movies he’s been churning out lately.

Finally, last night I rented The Road Warrior from Amazon and I think I’m finally going to give Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome a watch tonight. I’ve never seen it and I’ll be seeing Mad Max: Fury Road tomorrow night so I figured it’s time to get in on the action.

Otherwise, I’m about halfway through Ian Fleming‘s “Live and Let Die”, which has a strange twinge of racism to it. I haven’t read much about Fleming himself to know if this was more a product of the time in which it was written but Fleming’s personal opinion. I will say this, when I started reading chapter five, titled “N**ger Heaven”, I was using my thumb to cover the chapter heading until I turned the page considering I was in public. Not exactly a word you want on your Kindle reader in capital letters as a chapter heading.

Anyways, that’s it for me, what did you watch (or read) this week?
