Details on Lars von Trier’s Serial Killer TV Series, ‘The House That Jack Built’

Last year, writer/director Lars von Trier was set to follow-up his Nymphomaniac films with the TV series “The House That Jack Built“, but last fall, in his first interview in three years, he seemed to suggest he was done with filmmaking. He felt, in light of his recovery from an alcohol addiction, he couldn’t capture the same hyper-energy he once did.

Well, it looks like some things have changed, for Cineuropa reports “The House That Jack Built” is apparently back on, as the filmmaker still is hard at work writing the eight-part, English-language series, though, to be fair, perhaps he doesn’t consider this “film”-making as it will be release on television. And with this news comes more details on the project.

“The House That Jack Built” will apparently focus on a serial killer and will be seen from the murder’s point-of-view. These reports come from the University of Copenhagen where he studied, where he was interviewed by Peter Schepelern, an associate professor in film and media science.

Additionally, Bloody Disgusting reveals the new project has “a huge cast” and producer Peter Aalbæk Jensen is firm to note it’s “without precedent” and said to “hold your breath.”

Here’s a full Jensen quote:

He has a really really good idea which I cannot tell more about right now. He wants a huge cast and from what I heard, I’m sure that it will be something that you have never seen before and you will definitely never see again.

“The House That Jack Built” was first announced in September, as Deadline reported at the time. Production aims to begin early next year.
