Kingsman: Secret Service has been killing it domestically and internationally, remaining in the domestic top ten for the last eight weeks and amassing over $380 million worldwide. Pretty great for an R-rated flick based on a little known comic book and while it seems likely Taron Egerton‘s career will be bolstered by starring in the flick, it’s Sofia Boutella, who plays Gazelle, the assassin with the weaponized legs that’s landed a top notch gig first.
Deadline reports Boutella has landed a “lead role” in Star Trek 3 as she joins Idris Elba, who will reportedly play a villain in the feature, as the first two new names joining the cast. Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 6) is directing with a script written by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, but that’s about as far as the information goes.
Otherwise, we’re looking at a July 8, 2016 release date and rumors will likely begin swirling soon as production ramps up.
